SIGTARP, With Barofsky Gone, Not Finished; Still Collecting Payments, Investigating Fraud

The office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP) in its April 28 Quarterly Report to Congress said that, with $146.8 billion in TARP funds outstanding, and more than 150 fraud investigations continuing, the TARP program is far from over.

TARP still has almost $60 billion that has been obligated and is available to be spent, according to the latest quarterly report. The report also stressed that Congress intended for TARP to remain “on watch” as long as TARP assets remain outstanding, which will be many years down the road.
