Security Guard Who Stole $3.7 Million LeBron Jersey Gets Prison

A former Miami Heat security guard was ordered to spend three years behind bars for stealing hundreds of pieces of memorabilia from the team, including a jersey worn by LeBron James that later sold for nearly $4 million.

Marcos Thomas Perez, 62, who worked for the National Basketball Association team from 2016 to 2025, was sentenced in Miami federal court, the Justice Department said Friday. Perez, who was also ordered to pay restitution of $1.89 million, pleaded guilty in August to transporting and transferring stolen goods in interstate commerce.
