Prisoner Can Sue Officer Over Inmate’s Alleged Sexual Harassment

A Connecticut prisoner who says he was sexually harassed by an inmate that an officer allowed to enter his cell can proceed with his lawsuit alleging deliberate indifference and retaliation, with a ruling by a federal court.

Cargil Anthony Nicholson alleged “Officer Outar"permitted “inmate McBean,” who wasn’t assigned to his cell, to enter and then sexually harass him. Nicholson also alleged that after he filed a Prison Rape Elimination Act complaint, Outar called him a rat and a snitch in front of other inmates, subjecting him to threats from other inmates, and created an unsafe environment for him.
