Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) was exonerated Feb. 24 by the state’s highest criminal court of a charge he abused his power by vetoing state funding for an ethics unit when its disgraced leader refused to step down (Ex parte James Richard “Rick” Perry, Tex. Crim. App., PD-10670-15, 2/24/16).
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, in an opinion by Presiding Judge Sharon Keller, ordered Perry’s indictment dismissed.
