NYPD Reforms Car Chase Policy Amid Rising Crashes, Injuries

New rules from the New York Police Department restrict when vehicles can chase suspects, a reform that addresses safety concerns over the dangerous tactic.

The policy, announced Wednesday by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, will prohibit vehicle chases for low-level infractions, limiting pursuits to incidents that involve more serious violent crimes.
