Another perpetrator of a multi-million dollar check cashing scheme designed to evade paying payroll taxes in the New York construction industry has been sentenced to jail.
A New York federal judge sentenced Joshua Markovics, a principle for multiple construction companies, to two-and-a-half years in jail, a $10,000 fine, and $330,000 in restitution, according to a sentencing memorandum filed April 27. Markovics also received one year of supervised release and a mandatory $100 special assessment.
