NJ Congresswoman Pleads Not Guilty to Obstructing ICE Agents (1)

US Representative LaMonica McIver pleaded not guilty to federal charges that she interfered with law enforcement outside a 1,000-bed immigration detention facility in Newark, New Jersey.

McIver, 39, denied the charges at a hearing in federal court Wednesday. A trial was scheduled for Nov. 10.

Her case has become one of several flash points in Democratic resistance to President Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda. Other politicians, including California Senator Alex Padilla and New York mayoral candidate Brad Lander were both detained after separate run-ins with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents earlier this month.
