New York City Sued Over Taxi Commission Sting Operations (1)

New York City’s Taxi and Limousine Commission entraps ordinary New Yorkers and imposes excessive fines in violation of the Eight Amendment of the US Constitution, a new federal class action said.

Stanford Miller, Cesar Salas Valdez, Fabion Lewis, and George Numfor allege that the city runs sting operations at LaGuardia Airport, Kennedy Airport, and other locations around the city to enforce the Street Hail Law. In doing so it entraps and cajoles ordinary New Yorkers into alleged violations, they say.
