New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission Proposes to Amend Personal Use Cannabis Excise Tax Rules

The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission Aug. 1 proposed to amend personal use cannabis rules with technical amendments for excise tax purposes. The proposal includes measures to: 1) establish annual fees for wholesalers, distributors, and delivery services; 2) add a new definition for “cannabis wholesaler;" 3) edit the definition of “license holder” to also mean “licensee;" 4) clarify that a converted microbusiness doesn’t count towards license limits; and 5) clarify the timing of submission of renewal applications and the consequences of failing to meet those timeframes.
