New Castle’s Kurland Admits to Role In Galleon Hedge Fund Insider Scheme

Former hedge fund executive Mark Kurland pleaded guilty Jan. 27 to charges stemming from the massive insider trading scheme allegedly masterminded by Raj Rajaratnam, the founder and manager of the hedge fund Galleon Management LP, federal prosecutors announced (United States v. Kurland).

Kurland pleaded guilty before Magistrate Judge Ronald L. Ellis, of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, to one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and one count of securities fraud.

The case was assigned to Judge Victor Marrero.
