N.Y. Bar Association Says State Should Legalize Pot

The New York State Bar Association is calling on state lawmakers to legalize recreational marijuana.

The association’s policy-making body Friday approved a report from its Committee on Cannabis Law, outlining recommendations for legalizing adult use cannabis in the state, and providing suggested implementation strategies, according to a news release.

The association’s report comes after New York state Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D) in his Jan. 21 executive budget proposal called for legalization, with a 20% state tax on marijuana.
