Michigan’s law legalizing recreational marijuana doesn’t prevent prosecutors from charging suspected drug dealers with illegally possessing large amounts of marijuana under another law, the state appeals court ruled.
The legalization law doesn’t conflict with statutes under Michigan’s Public Health Code, which makes it a felony to possess between five and 45 kilograms of marijuana, Court of Appeals Judge James Robert Redford wrote Monday for a three-judge panel.
