A federal jury found a Maryland man guilty of charges of wire fraud and bribery, according to the Justice Department Wednesday.
Wayne I. Kacher, Jr. was charged with honest services wire fraud, conspiracy, and bribery involving federal funds, the DOJ said. Maryland Broadband Cooperative Inc., a not-for-profit organization working to provide internet service to underserved areas in Maryland, used Kacher’s company, Bel Air Underground Inc., as a subcontractor.
Kacher provided Maryland Broadband Cooperative president William Patrick Mitchell with financial benefits, including cash payments and renovations to Mitchell’s residence, according to the DOJ.
