Maryland Construction Company Owner Sentenced for Tax Evasion

Jerry Lee Redman, who owned the Maryland-based paving and construction business Redman Services Inc., was sentenced to 13 months in prison for evading his federal income taxes, the Justice Department said Thursday.

Redman allegedly paid for personal expenses by siphoning money from RSI through weekly cash withdrawals, which he didn’t report as income on his personal tax returns for tax years 2014-2018, according to the DOJ.

He also allegedly caused some of these cash withdrawals to be falsely deducted as business expenses on RSI’s corporate tax returns and directed some of the company’s clients to write checks payable directly ...
