Man Accused of Starting Palisades Fire Denied Pretrial Release

Less than a month before the man accused of starting the Palisades Fire was arrested, police officers were called twice to the Florida home where he lived with his sister.

Jonathan Rinderknecht had been fighting with his family. The first time, he’d yelled at his sister to adopt a vegan diet following her cancer diagnosis, telling her five-year-old child that she was going to die, Assistant US Attorney Laura Alexander said Monday. The second time, Rinderknecht’s sister discovered he’d brought a gun into the home. Rinderknecht’s sister offered him about $15,000 to move out and he refused, Alexander said.
