The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating allegations of graft and money laundering involving former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who becomes the latest former leader of the Southeast Asian nation to be probed for alleged graft.
The focus of the investigation is on the spending and acquisition of funds for the purposes of promotion and publicity while he was prime minister, the authority said late on Sunday. About 177 million ringgit ($40 million) in cash and gold have been seized.
