Jason Kurland, the “lottery lawyer,” was sentenced to 13 years in prison after being convicted last year of misappropriating, if not stealing, more than $100 million from his former clients.
A jury in July 2022 found Kurland guilty of wire fraud, honest services wire fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit both those crimes for his part in a scheme to bilk his clients, some of the largest lottery winners in US history.
Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis, for the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York, delivered the sentence on Thursday.
