Latest Auto Parts Manufacturer Agrees To Plead Guilty, Pay $52.1 Million Fine

The latest automotive parts manufacturer accused of price fixing on Aug. 19 agreed to plead guilty and to pay a $52.1 million fine in a plea agreement submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (U.S. v. NGK Spark Plug Co., Ltd., E.D. Mich., No. 2:14-cr-20494).

The one-count information, filed by the Justice Department, charged that NGK Spark Plug Co., Ltd.—a Japanese company—participated in a conspiracy to fix prices and rig bids for the spark plugs, standard oxygen sensors, and air fuel ratio sensors it manufacturers and sells.
