Jury Convicts Former Triton Capital CEO In $50 Million Ponzi Using Football Stars

A jury in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas Aug. 17 convicted Kurt Barton, the former president and chief executive officer of Triton Financial LLC, on charges he operated a Ponzi investment scam that bilked over 300 investors of $50 million (United States v. Barton).

U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas John E. Murphy said in a same-day statement that the jury convicted Barton of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, making false statements to secure loans from financial institutions, money laundering, securities fraud, wire fraud and other charges.
