Judge Off Oregon National Guard Case After DOJ Claims Conflict

A federal judge recused himself from hearing Oregon’s challenge to President Donald Trump’s decision to send National Guard troops into Portland after government lawyers alleged he may have a conflict of interest.

US District Judge Michael Simon agreed Thursday to have the case assigned to another judge after Justice Department lawyers cited comments made by his wife, Democratic Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, that were critical of the deployment.
