A Houston-area pharmacist and business owner is under investigation for defrauding the Federal Employee Compensation Act program out of around $53.8 million, according to a petition filed in federal court in Texas.
The civil forfeiture action—filed against the properties, rather than any person or entity—claims the owners and operators of Advance Pharmacy, TruCare Pharmacy, and AccuHealth submitted false claims for medically unnecessary, high-reimbursement prescription medications allegedly dispensed to federal beneficiaries, and seeks to seize millions of dollar worth of property and assets.
