House Intelligence Chairman Wants Cohen Prosecuted for Perjury

Two senior congressional Republicans are seeking a federal criminal investigation into whether former Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen committed perjury in 2019 congressional testimony on the former president’s business dealings.

Cohen admitted last month on the witness stand in Trump’s New York civil fraud trial that he lied to Congress in the earlier testimony.

In the 2019 congressional deposition, Cohen denied that Allen Weisselberg, Trump’s long-time former chief financial officer, had asked him to inflate numbers on Trump’s personal financial statement. During the New York trial, Cohen acknowledged Weisselberg had asked him to do so.
