House Ethics Committee Probing Conyers, John Lewis Aide

The House Ethics Committee will continue investigating charges against Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) and Michael Collins, chief of staff for Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), the panel said Aug. 9.

Statements issued by the committee didn’t detail the status of the separate probes involving Conyers and Collins, but the panel released investigative reports from the Office of Congressional Ethics.

One OCE report confirmed the Conyers probe involves the handling of his former chief of staff, Cynthia Martin, who was convicted last year on criminal charges. The report said the OCE board voted unanimously to find there was “substantial reason to believe” ...
