An agent representing jockeys has no cause to complain over a $25,000 fine, license revocation, and ban from thoroughbred horse racing for 10 years, a New York appeals court ruled.
The misconduct of Mike Gonzalez, who was convicted of attempt to commit computer trespass in connection with use of a New York Racing Association employee’s computer password, was “much greater” than that underlying his conviction, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, said Feb. 28.
The ruling upheld the penalties imposed by the NYRA hearing officer as reasonable and based on the evidence.
