Home Health Care Owner Pleads Guilty to Employment Tax Crimes

A Colorado home health care business owner pleaded guilty to not paying employment taxes, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.

According to the DOJ, Shandel Arkadie operated Alternative Choice Home Care Nursing. Arkadie was responsible for withholding Social Security, Medicare and income taxes from employees’ wages and paying those funds over to the Internal Revenue Services each quarter. She was also responsible for paying over Alternative Choice’s portion of Social Security and Medicare taxes.
