High Court Takes Up Child Porn Punishment Appeal

The issue of how much proof is needed to put people who violate supervised release back in prison was added today to the U.S. Supreme Court docket.

The case will be argued later this term and questions the standard judges need to apply in these situations, arising here in a child pornography case.

The Trump administration’s petition seeking review criticized a divided appeals court’s decision to strike down multiple provisions of a federal law that it says “plays an important role in protecting the public from harm.”
