Former Rippling Employee Admits to Spying for Deel in Affidavit

Rippling’s former global payroll manager Keith O’Brien admitted in an affidavit filed in Ireland’s High Court to stealing trade secrets on behalf of rival workplace software company Deel Inc.

The document, filed Tuesday in a lawsuit against Deel in Ireland, details a scheme that started in September 2024 with Deel founder and CEO Alex Bouaziz offering to pay O’Brien to spy on Rippling.

O’Brien had been considering leaving Rippling at the time and discussed his plans with Bouaziz, he said.
