Former Rep. Siljander Gets Year in Jail For Obstruction, Acting as Foreign Agent

Former Rep. Mark Siljander (R-Mich.)—who had been associated with an exempt organization subject to an Internal Revenue Service complaint in 2010— has been sentenced in federal court in Missouri to a year in jail for obstruction of justice and for acting as an unregistered foreign agent.

Both charges related to his work for an Islamic charity with ties to international terrorism.

The sentencing was announced Jan. 11 by the office of Beth Phillips, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.
