Kevin Ring, the former congressional aide and lobbying partner of Jack Abramoff whose case is among the last in the Justice Department’s long-running probe of Abramoff’s activities, was sentenced Oct. 26 to 20 months in prison (U.S. v. Ring).
The sentence was among the toughest received by nearly two dozen lobbyists and public officials convicted in the Abramoff scandal, but it was far more lenient than a sentence of more than four years called for by prosecutors and sentencing guidelines.
Ring also was sentenced to two years and six months of probation following his jail time.
