Former Allentown Mayor Denied New Trial on Corruption Charges

Former Allentown, Pa. mayor Edwin Pawlowski lost his bid for a new trial on public corruption charges after the Third Circuit on Wednesday rejected claims about newly discovered exculpatory evidence.

Pawlowski, who was convicted of 38 corruption-related offenses in 2018, claimed that he learned about the evidence when now-retired FBI agent Scott Curtis appeared on the podcast “FBI Retired Case File Review” the following year. Curtis had been the lead agent on Pawlowski’s case.
