Florida Woman’s Convictions for Nonprofit Fraud Survive Appeal

A West Palm Beach, Fla., woman convicted of wire fraud for charging thousands of dollars in personal expenses to a nonprofit’s credit card lost her appeal, as the Eleventh Circuit rejected claims about insufficient evidence and an inconsistent verdict.

Elizabeth Suarez began serving as a board member for Piper’s Angels Foundation after marrying its founder, Travis Suit, in 2018. Suit had formed the organization in 2016 not long after his daughter was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
