Florida Businessmen Sentenced in Covid Mask, Glove Sale Scheme

Brian Sperber and Edmond Norkus were sentenced to two years and two months and three years, respectively, for conspiring to commit wire fraud in a scheme where they tricked expectant purchasers of personal protective equipment out of more than $14 million, the Justice Department announced Friday.

According to the DOJ, the two men exploited the scarcity and high demand for PPE during the Covid-19 pandemic to defraud buyers by promising to sell large quantities of PPE they could not actually deliver.
