Ex-Souktel CEO Agrees to Settle False Claims Act Allegations

Jacob Korenblum, the former chief executive officer of Souktel Inc., has agreed to pay $100,000 to resolve allegations that he knowingly caused employees to submit false claims to the US Agency for International Development, the D.C. United States Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

Souktel, which was awarded USAID-funded sub-grants and sub-contracts to design and build software programs for mobile phones in 2013, submitted at least 55 invoices with false or speculative labor hours for its staff, according to the news release.

The firm submitted fabricated time sheets to five prime awardees at the direction of Korenblum, the US Attorney’s Office said. ...
