Ex-NFL Players in Fraud Case Get Restitution Cut by $2.8 Million

Two former NFL players who pleaded guilty to defrauding a health-care plan for retired football players had their restitution orders trimmed by nearly $2.8 million, after the Eastern District of Kentucky found that the prior orders might result in an overpayment.

The original order finding the alleged ringleader of the scheme, Robert McCune, jointly and severally liable for $2.47 million in restitution was modified to an apportioned liability of $186,750, in an order issued Monday by Judge Karen K. Caldwell of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
