Ex-IRS Agent’s False Tax Returns Caused Lost Revenue, DOJ Says

The Justice Department filed an complaint against a former IRS revenue agent turned tax return preparer for allegedly filing fraudulent tax returns on behalf of customers, alleging that he caused an estimated $42 million dollars in lost tax revenue between 2017 and 2020, according to a government press release.

Donald J. Taylor allegedly prepared false income tax returns for customers by abusing the S corporation requirements to reduce customer tax liabilities, the DOJ said on April 2.
