Ex-eBay Security Manager Gets Time Served in Cyberstalking Case

A former eBay employee convicted for his role in a bizarre cyberstalking conspiracy was sentenced Thursday to time served, with one year of supervised release and a $20,000 fine.

Brian Gilbert was convicted for participating in a 2019 harassment campaign against a journalist and her publisher husband, allegedly launched because certain eBay executives—including former CEO Devin Wenig and former chief communications officer Steve Wymer—worried the couple’s newsletter “EcommerceBytes” might damage the company’s image.
