Two IRS enforcement groups are helping agency investigators leverage data to select criminal tax cases.
The Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (CI) division’s nationally coordinated investigation (NCI) and international tax enforcement (ITE) groups, announced in August 2017, are up and running in field offices, CI Chief Don Fort said May 12.
“We have literally tens of millions of records from various investigations and are pulling together information and making connections to select new cases,” Fort said at the May Meeting of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation.
