Energy Intelligence Group Beats Fraud Claims in Copyright Case

Energy Intelligence Group Inc., an industry trade publication, escaped claims in Illinois federal court that its copyright enforcement policies are fraudulent and deceptive.

EIG had sued one of its customers, Constellation Energy Generation LLC, for copyright infringement, alleging that Constellation illegally distributed the Nuclear Energy Weekly newsletter to many employees who didn’t have a subscription.

Constellation had a subscription for only two employees, EIG said. The publication used copyright protection software to identify who downloads the newsletter and how it’s redistributed.
