Education Department Investigating School’s Handling of Larry Nassar

The Education Department announced it is investigating how Michigan State University handled complaints about Larry Nassar, a former physician for the school’s gymnastics team who was sentenced to up to 175 years for sexual misconduct.

Nassar’s sentencing came after a trial in which more than 150 victims spoke out about Nassar’s sexual abuse. Several victims said they told officials at Michigan State about Nassar as far back as the 1990s, but nothing was done to prevent him from treating patients.
