DHS Says Democrats Illegally Entered New Jersey Immigration Jail

Trump administration officials are accusing two Democratic members of Congress of “storming” an immigrant detention facility in New Jersey, a charge the members deny.

Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin on Friday alleged in a statement that Reps. Rob Menendez and Bonnie Watson Coleman, both of New Jersey, joined protesters in illegally entering the Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark, N.J.

“Members of Congress are not above the law and cannot illegally break into detention facilities. Had these members requested a tour, we would have facilitated a tour of the facility. This is an evolving situation,” McLaughlin said ...
