Denmark Drops Treason Case Against Former Defense Minister

Denmark’s state prosecutor has dropped criminal proceedings against a former defense minister, Claus Hjort Frederiksen, who had been charged with treason for allegedly leaking state secrets.

The decision comes after the Danish Defense Intelligence Service assessed that it isn’t safe to make highly classified information available in the cases against Hjort Frederiksen, who served as defense minister from 2016 to 2019, and Lars Findsen, the former chief of the intelligence service, the prosecutor said in a statement on Wednesday.
