Washingon D.C. city councilmember Trayon White Sr. was arrested on a criminal complaint charging him with bribery, the Justice Department announced Monday.
The DOJ said that, beginning in June, White agreed to accept $156,000 in exchange for using his position to pressure government employees to extend contracts with two companies to provide violence intervention services in the city.
According to the DOJ, White’s meetings with the owner of the companies—including the owner’s payments to White on four occasion—were captured on video.
