Corruption Probe of Texas AG Taken Over by DOJ in Washington

The US Justice Department is shifting its corruption probe of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton from federal prosecutors in the state to investigators in Washington, DC, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Paxton has been under investigation by federal authorities since 2020, when a group of his top deputies accused him of abusing his position by accepting a bribe from a campaign donor in exchange for advancing the donor’s business interests and investigating his adversaries.
