Contractor to Pay $10 Million to Settle False Claims Allegations

MOX Services LLC will pay $10 million to settle allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by knowingly submitting false and fraudulent invoices to the U.S. Department of Energy and getting improper kickbacks, according to Monday’s news release.

The U.S. alleged that MOX, who was the prime contractor for the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility construction at the DOE Savannah River Site in Aiken, S.C., didn’t meet its obligation to confirm whether the invoices presented by one of its subcontractors, Wise Services Inc., were for nonexistent materials before it submitted those claims to DOE.
