Con Man Who Faked Ties to Steph Curry Gets 7 Years in Ponzi Plot

A Canadian conman who faked ties with NBA star Stephen Curry and other celebrities was sentenced to 87 months in prison for heading a $7.5 million Ponzi scheme.

Khemraj Dave Hardat pleaded guilty in April to five counts of wire fraud after being accused of posing as a successful business entrepreneur.

Hardat duped investors into believing he had a doctorate and major contacts in the beverage industry, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said in an announcement Aug. 12.
