‘Compound King’ Pharmacist Gets 10 Years for $21 Million Fraud

A Texas pharmacist who once referred to himself as the “compound king” was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for his role in a $21 million health-care fraud scheme that targeted the Department of Labor’s Office of Workers Compensation Programs.

George Philip Tompkins, former owner of Piney Point Pharmacy, was sentenced alongside his wife, Marene Kathryn Tompkins, who was the pharmacy’s former vice president. She was sentenced to 30 days of home confinement and three years of supervised release, according to federal prosecutors.
