Child Pornography Convict Fails to Lower 55-Year Prison Sentence

A man sentenced to 55 years for producing and possessing child pornography failed to convince the Fourth Circuit to vacate or lower his sentence Friday, despite his argument that the trial court identified him to a key government witness.

Jacob Daylen Ross argued the trial judge violated his due process rights by identifying him in the courtroom when the witness was initially unable to recognize him. Ross also argued his sentence was grossly disproportionate to his charged offenses, which included five counts of sexually exploiting children and one count of possessing the material.
