A former Freeborn & Peters LLP lawyer accused of a scheme to defraud his client’s creditors was found not guilty at his second trial, the court said.
Prosecutors in 2019 said Chicago lawyer Edward Filer created a sham secured creditor with a senior lien on assets of Barsanti Woodwork Corp. in order to fraudulently shield the bankrupt company’s assets from legitimate creditors
