Daniel Chartraw, formerly of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., was charged with wire fraud related to a cryptocurrency investment scheme where he defrauded multiple victims, the Justice Department announced Thursday.
According to the DOJ, Chartraw claimed his companies, Crypto-Pal and TDA Global, had a proprietary algorithm capable of generating exceptional returns on cryptocurrency investments, but instead used victims’ money to fund his personal lifestyle and travel.
