Worker at Unaccompanied Noncitizen Child Shelter Guilty of Abuse

The sex abuse convictions against a worker at a shelter for unaccompanied noncitizen children were upheld by the Ninth Circuit Tuesday despite his claim that the statutes of conviction were inapplicable.

Levian Pacheco worked at a private shelter, Casa Kokopelli, which had a contract with the government to house minors who immigrated to the U.S. illegally and were waiting for their removal cases to be processed.

Pacheco was convicted of seven counts of abusive sexual contact with a ward, two counts of sexual abuse of a ward, and one count of attempted sexual abuse of a ward.
